DJ Profile - Mick Love

In 1979/80 during the mod revival I got into Northern Soul music, moving to Essex from Edinburgh 1981 and started collecting Rare Soul music.

In 1983 started DJ'ing at YMCA Chelmsford right in at the deep end, a Northern Soul Allnighter.


1995 on returning to Essex having worked for a year in my native Scotland I started DJ'ing at various Mod, Northern Soul Venue's in Essex, Mainly Fantasy's in Braintree and the Galleywood Mod/Northern Soul Alldayers in Chelmsford. along with The Square Harlow, The Vange Basildon, Chelmsford Football Club (Old Ground). Dj'ed at Various Northern Soul Allnighters, Pier Lowestoft, 2nd Chelmsford Allnighter (1991).

In recent times I have DJ'd At The Sunrooms, Southend, Barhouse Chelmsford, The Recent Soul @ The Barhouse Allnighter with Blackpool Mecca legend "Ian Levine", Polish Club in Oldham, Soul By The Jetty on Canvey Island Essex, Lanarkshire Soul Collective's Gig's In Scotland, I am a part of the East Anglian Soul Weekender DJ Line up, known as Sunny Hunny and most recently in my home city of Edinburgh the Spyders Web. I am also DJ'ing at The Children In Need Alldayer in The Midlands and the Spyder Turner Gig in Oldham in 2013.


Radio wise I have guested on a local Soul internet station Zero Radio ( a few times with various presenters Jon Layton & Mark Messent (Messy) on their Saturday Soulmine Show. including Dave Cook's Show. I Have a Sunday show weekly on Atlantic Radio International, 7pm - 9pm, an Irish station available on the internet.

My Musical taste has changed over the years, still soul music and my roots are still northern soul, but I enjoy other sub genre's of soul music too. Jazz Funk, Modern Soul, 2 Step. if you want to put labels on it, to me it's all Soul Music.
